Executive Director
Shanna Peterson
shanna.peterson@kittyrevolution.orgI joined Kitty Revolution after adopting my soul-cat Marty (pictured) from the rescue. I started off as a general volunteer, helping with social media and events. That turned into fostering and eventually, becoming the Executive Director in January 2025.
Cats hold a very special place in my heart. It is my goal to ensure I help as many cats as possible to find a safe and loving forever home. If you have ideas about how this rescue can grow, I am always willing to listen!
When I am not doing cat rescue, you can find me doing nerdy hobbies like reading, gaming, puzzling, playing Dungeons and Dragons, going to trivia, and hanging out with my wonderful partner Jordan. We have two cats and a dog who have our hearts.

Michaela Parr
michaela.parr@kittyrevolution.orgMichaela is passionate about making a positive impact in her community and caring for the world around her. After graduating from law school, she began her career as an Attorney, where she works to uphold justice and serve others.
A lifelong animal lover, Michaela shares her home with one very spoiled cat and strongly believes in advocating for animal welfare. She supports efforts that protect and improve the lives of animals, reflecting her deep compassion for all living beings.
Outside of work, Michaela enjoys exploring nature on a hike, capturing the beauty of the outdoors through photography, and relaxing at home snuggling her cat. Her love for animals and the environment aligns with her commitment to helping organizations that make a difference for both people and pets. -

Heather Gillespie
heather.gillespie@kittyrevolution.orgI joined Kitty Revolution in 2021 after moving to the Twin Cities. What began as volunteering at Chip & Clip events has grown into a larger role managing all aspects of the rescue's medical scheduling. Eventually, I joined the Board of Directors and occasionally foster. I enjoy working with the shy kitties who reserve showing their personality to just a few special people.
When I'm not volunteering with Kitty Revolution, I enjoy spending time in my garden, getting lost in a good book, or building LEGO. I live with my husband, Justin, and our two kitties, Ziggy (a Kitty Revolution alum!) & Marley.

Mary Thrall
mary.thrall@kittyrevolution.orgI joined Kitty Revolution in 2018 as a foster caregiver. Eventually, I “foster failed” and adopted the bonded pair of cats I was fostering: Ellywick, Queen Among Bears (pictured), and Xena. I joined the board in 2024. I enjoy evidence and data-based decision making, and try bring that passion to my work on the board.
For work, I am a software engineer. I live with my spouse, our son, and four cats: Xena, Ellywick, Wendy, and Joxer. Our family is waiting to be matched with a foster child to adopt, so our hope is that in 2026 we will be expanding our family.
When not working or doing cat things, I enjoy hiking with my family, reading (I host a science fiction book club), traveling, languages, and playing D&D and board games with friends. I “didn’t know how to cook” until COVID, and now I’m enjoying learning how to cook recipes from around the world.

Amanda Weigel
amanda.weigel@kittyrevolution.orgI started my Rescue journey roughly 25 years ago in Texas when my own cat escaped our home and while looking for her, I was bombarded with the realization of how many homeless animals there were. This was my awakening.
Since then, I have fostered numerous cats, dogs, and other small animals, and I've worked with several rescues throughout Minnesota. I am very passionate about our feral cats and puppy mill dogs because they are so passionate about themselves; they see their value and their purpose but they also see that not all humans do. They've saved my life. Imagine being so brave and enduring what they do and coming through that with such determination and strength. Imagine being so brave that you can forgive and prevail when life hasn't been easy and you've been hurt and forgotten about. I am so grateful for all they have given me. My goal is to end homelessness and to open the eyes of humans so that they can see them and become better shepherds of our animals.
I own two pet stores and I love serving the animals and the humans who walk in here; the hugs, the laughs, the tears, the comfort, and the comradery that develops because of our mutual love for our animals. In my free time, you'll find me grooming for rescue or helping with rescue in one way or another. I also love my family so much; without their support, I wouldn't be able to rescue like I do. My life partner, John, has been an amazing support to my animal passion - there could never be a partner for me as great as him. He and I love to get on the road and drive and go out for Saturday date nights. Due to my grandma and mom, I have a soft spot in my heart for Boston Terriers so currently I have four of them. I also have two Standard Poodles, a Doodle, and two Chihuahuas. Eddie, Madre, Big Grey Bear, Betsy, Ash, Jennifurr, and Black Cat are the cats who own me and they have done SO MUCH to help teach scared cats how to housecat.
I want to thank everyone who is a part of this great mission. What you do matters to each individual animal.
